Tony Walsh
Tony Walsh is the director of Phantom Compass, the award-winning game studio he founded in 2008. Backed by 20 years of experience in youth-market digital media production, Tony provides executive guidance to both the studio and its original games, including the industry-acclaimed “Rollers of the Realm” pinball role-playing game.
Walsh has contributed to a number of acclaimed Canadian interactive media projects during his career. He has been a mentor in cross-media labs including LAMP (Australia) and BAVC’s Producers Institute (USA). He has served as a program advisor for SXSW Screenburn (USA), several Canadian colleges, and the Royal Academy of Art (the Netherlands).
Walsh appeared in the 2008 game culture documentary “Second Skin,” was a prominent games culture blogger for nearly ten years and has been cited in such publications as Wired, Discover, Utne, and the Harvard Business Review. He has presented to international audiences at industry events including SXSW (USA) and Doc/Fest (UK) on topics concerning the culture of games and virtual worlds.
