An apology

I am very sorry for the lack of postings here, this is due to many issues some I have no control over some I do in any event, all matters have been dealt with.

The best news of all is due to these events I can say this:

The Contests held by Mobile Out of the Box will be free to enter.

Yes FREE TO ENTER fees sent will be sent back.

The Film Contests The App Contests and The Game Contest will be free to enter!

After much discussion with others on goals and outcomes, I have dedicated that the first and largest goal to to encourage   more experiments and just plain fun.

To be sure of this every major barrier had to be removed. The largest  one being any time of fee to be part of this grand experiment! This was going to be a major issue for young adults of low income or in the third world.

Very much so for the Apps and Gaming areas of Out Of the Box. The more the merrier and the more we all can learn.

The rules will be changed at once to reflect this.

Note: We can not pay any postage due nor return mailed materials unless postage is included. Please insure you send contact information with a an Email so postage can be arranged if necessary.

Thank You

Wayne

Ramkrishna Photo no 1

If I am to live by the words above, I had a duty to reach out to more then this folks in North America, I did so and must say found a great not only judge who not only understands many of the issues of Farming in South Asia but is working on resolving many of them by his actions this being

Ramkrishna Sameriya

Lets read about him:

Ramkrishna Sameriya is a Roving Journalist, Founder and CEO of Rural Call.

Rural Call [meaning ‘Village is calling’] is a social tech company based in India (Bhopal) started in 2012 with the intent of ‘connecting the dots’ with Rural World. Rural Call calls people to contribute their knowledge, skill, network, expertise for positive changes in Rural World.

He has also launched Janvaani (People Voice) a social media platform for non internet users to raise the voice of rural areas. Janvaani is equivalent to Facebook/YouTube/Twitter for rural areas. It works on an intelligent IVR (interactive voice response) system that allows people to call into a number (+91 011 66030083) and leave a message about their community, or listen to messages left by others. Users discuss, shares wide ranging issues on rural wisdoms, culture, problems, solutions and information.

Ramkrishna belongs to a small town Harda (Madhya Pradesh). Having dropped out of Mechanical Engineering, migrated Bhopal in December 2011 and started career as a translator (English to Hindi). He also served as a Sub-Editor in various print media before becoming a Roving Journalist. He also used to read news bulletin and poem in radios.

He joined corporate world as a Brand Manager in 2007. Way back during corporate assignments in 2010. The Idea of Rural Call occurred in Ramkrishna’s mind when migrated youth had come in his contact. He researched on migration and unemployment. He found that this is urgent social need to be addressed.

So, after the completion of all contractual assignments in November 2011, he started travelling in Rural India. He is travelling continue across India Since January 2012, walked Sristi’s Shodh Yatra (sristi.org) to understand the ground realties of Rural World.  He attended many workshops, seminars and forum, talked thousands youth from grassroots to IIT-ians & MIT-ians.

He is writing two books nowadays, one is on ‘Never Ending Journey’ experience of travelling and second is ‘Connect Dots’.  He is also writing a script of a film based on farmers.

He is also in selection committee of Yuva PrernaYatra (yuvaprernayatra.org).

Why Agriculture

Why Agriculture? Is the question I get asked a lot (and when will I find an editor to help fix my grammar/spelling) why this and not Gaming or apps for Video…?

Well on this National Ag Day, I thought I would address the question. As I see the world, we all eat right? That be the short answer the longer answer and please stay with me, is that Farming is the last economic sector to use mobile as much as it could be, not only could this tech be used in fighting pests to helping Farmers from one part of the world learn from Farmers in another part of the world issues common to all parties in real time.

In this area of the U.S.A. Japanese Beatles are starting to raise havoc, I love to talk to someone dealing with the Beatles as well sharing a huge amount of information from what crops the Beatles are damaging the most, what the effects of treatment has been and what ideas others of tried that have worked.

Mobile devices could be used to run sophisticated soil testing saving both time and money for farmers. This could help farmers with job #1 building soil. Great soil is so very important to all types of Agriculture.

This flow of information could help create markets and educate consumers allowing us all to know our farmers far better then ever before.Just think what better health outcomes could come from this alone.

I do not want to overlook the idea too of the power of teaching the users of apps, how to write the apps creating more income to keep farmers farming, as well as with empowering farmers to work within political systems to increase the amount of high speed broadband  that many in Agriculture so desperately need!

This is only a short look at why I choose to focus the first App contest on Agriculture.

We will visit this time and again

Thanks!

The Call Went Out!

Put the call for entry out on the Social media sites, from LinkedIn to Twitter.

Will of course repeat this over the course of the week end. Be interesting to see how the hits come in from this and start to learn how others are hearing about what I am doing.

The feedback I have gotten is positive. I know there are issues with my grammar and spelling, getting help from others, great that folks like Duane Martin of Rouge Cinema with the aid of Carolyn Evans-Dean have been able to help so much.

Yes, how this looks is critical, I will do what I can to find more to help proof my work, maybe YOU might be interested?

Quickly!

Quickly working on getting the calls for entry to go out on the exciting components of this Mobile out of the box series of contests, from apps, games, and video all made for (and in some cases) on Mobile devices. Are we not fun?

Now, I know in parts of Europe and in some parts on the USA,  Hackathon type events are held, and for all I know Milwaukee has had a few, our mission is well to have fun, lots of fun. Did I say having fun was critical?

Another aspect is to  lean and share with each other. creating contacts that we will want to interact with I hope for life.

Like other Hackathon’s we we have a focus for the apps, ours will be with the first part of the app section Agriculture focusing one the one element every Farmer/Rancher needs that being good soil.

Expect the calls to come up soon. Feel free to contact me if you like    wayne@mobileoutofthebox.us

Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box is coming to celebrate the world of mobile devices!

From applications to video creations, the world of mobile devices is growing every day.  Most of us use some type of mobile device to make a call, check the weather, play a game or to perform any number of other activities, every single day.  Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box is a celebration of both the and the creators who make the magic happen. This includes app creators, film makers and those who find new and creative ways to use their mobile devices to aid them in their work.

To accomplish this we will host  events with a mobile twist! The Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box Contest will showcase the film creators who use the latest portable technology. All of the participating videos will have been exclusively created on smart phones and tablets.  We’ve lined up a great group of judges such as actress Kelly Marie Murtha and author Carolyn Evans-Dean, among others.  Each entry will be objectively critiqued to allow the entrant to improve their work.  We are planning to showcase the winners on the Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box web page and on our YouTube and Vimeo channels.

We are also hosting an app contest for tablet and smart phone developers.  Just as with the film submissions, all of the submitted apps will be critiqued and feedback given to the creators.  Our head judge is Tony Trejo, the CEO of Gruposmart, a major player in the Hispanic applications market.

We would be remiss if we did not include a game contest. More than anything else we see games being played on mobile devices. Who better than Tony Walsh, Executive Producer of Phantom Compass to lead the judging and critiquing effort?

The brains behind Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box include foreign film festival organizers and Wayne Clingman, creator of the Indy Film Wisconsin and the It Came from Lake Michigan film festival.

We are actively looking for sponsors to partner with us to create a Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box celebration to be remembered.

Sponsorships can take the form of cash, mobile devices, software or providing for any of the other needs we may have, such as covering the speech by our keynote speaker via Skype at the awards dinner.

Given adequate support, the Mobile-Out-Of-The-Box team would like to also host a video contest exclusively for high school seniors within the United States. As part of our educational and industry outreach we’d like to identify and offer assistance to budding high school developers to learn about the opportunities that await them in college, as they look ahead at furthering their education.

For more information please e-mail Wayne Clingman at wclingman@wi.rr.com.
